Grade 2 Coding & Robotics – Term 4
Term 4 brings together the knowledge and skills developed throughout the year through practical robot missions, problem-solving activities and structured assessment opportunities.
Learners now apply familiar concepts such as algorithms, loops, decomposition, IF-THEN decisions, IPO, robot components, debugging and optimisation in increasingly independent activities. The focus shifts from simply following instructions to planning, testing, improving and explaining solutions with confidence.
The programme follows the TeachFrame learning pathway:
Body → Floor Grid → Paper
This systematic approach allows learners to first experience coding and robotics concepts physically, then apply them practically on a floor grid, and finally consolidate their understanding through written activities.
Term 4 Focus Areas
- Independent algorithm design
- Breaking problems into manageable phases
- IF-THEN decision-making
- Input–Process–Output (IPO)
- Robot components and systems
- Robots and their impact on everyday life
- Artefact design
- Systematic testing and debugging
- Efficiency and optimisation
- Practical robot missions
- Final assessment and reflection
- Digital citizenship
Throughout the term, learners are encouraged to analyse problems, plan possible solutions, execute instructions, test their work, identify errors and improve their solutions.
This Package Includes
- Complete Grade 2 Term 4 lesson plans
- Matching learner worksheets
- Full memorandums
- Practical Body → Floor Grid → Paper activities
- Structured robot missions and problem-solving tasks
- CAPS-aligned learning and assessment opportunities
- Digital citizenship integration
- Rory the Robot activities
- Opportunities for reflection, debugging and improvement
The Term 4 programme provides a structured conclusion to the Grade 2 Coding & Robotics year, helping learners demonstrate what they have learned while developing greater independence, logical thinking and confidence in solving problems.
