The My Klaskamer Grade 3 Coding & Robotics Term 2 package builds on the foundation established in Grades 1 and 2 and guides learners toward more structured algorithmic thinking. The focus is on loops (repetition), robot status, debugging and efficient solutions — all within a simple, child-friendly framework.

From simple movements to smart algorithms

In Grade 3, learners begin to recognise patterns in instructions and learn how to shorten repeated movements by using loops. They discover that the same action does not need to be written out every time — an important step in developing algorithmic thinking.

Learners also learn to track the robot’s status by identifying two key aspects:

• Position (coordinate)
• Direction (orientation)

This skill helps them interpret instructions precisely and understand how an algorithm works step by step.

Formal robot movements

Grade 3 uses a clear movement rule that develops consistent logical thinking:

Turn = look
Step = move

Learners work with three simple symbols:

👣 step forward / ▶️ turn right / ◀️ turn left

By clearly separating rotation and movement, learners learn to read, write and improve instructions accurately.

Problem solving and debugging

An important part of the term is debugging.
Learners learn to identify errors in a robot plan and correct them.

They develop the ability to ask:

• Did the robot reach the target?
• Where did the error occur?
• How can the plan be improved?
